Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, has refused to join the high-level committee established by the Centre to explore the feasibility of simultaneous elections in India. Chowdhury expressed his decision in a letter addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He stated that he had no hesitation in declining the offer as he believed the committee’s terms of reference were designed to ensure predetermined outcomes. According to Chowdhury, the committee’s formation seemed to be a mere facade.
