Hyderabad: Jeevitha and Rajashekar, a couple, have been sentenced to a year in prison by the Nampally Court. They were also fined Rs 5,000. The case dates back to 2011 when Jeevitha and Rajashekar claimed that the Chiranjeevi blood bank was selling blood illegally.
Film producer Allu Aravind took legal action against these allegations and filed a defamation lawsuit. The court was presented with media articles featuring the accusations made by Jeevitha and Rajashekar as evidence.
After a long trial, the court delivered its verdict on Tuesday. Both actors were sentenced to one year in prison and fined Rs 5,000. However, they were granted bail after paying the fine and can now appeal in the High Court.
