In the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, the accused turned approver Dastagiri filed a petition in the High Court against TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, YS Sunitha, and YS Sharmila. He accused them of using the case for political gain during the election period, which is against the rules.
Dastagiri objected to the presentation of information related to the murder case during the election campaign, saying it violated election regulations. He also named ABN TV and TV5 for repeatedly covering the news on the matter.
He criticized YS Sharmila’s political speech in Kadapa and urged the Election Commission to take action against those involved. Dastagiri emphasized the seriousness of the murder case and warned against using it for personal agendas.
In his petition, Dastagiri asked the High Court to direct the Election Commission to restrict political speeches about the case and stop media coverage until after the election. He claimed that the focus on YS Vivekananda Reddy was affecting him as he is a candidate in the Assembly elections.
Dastagiri accused the TDP of using the case for their own interests and demanded accountability from YS Sunitha, YS Sharmila, and B.Tech Ravi for discussing the murder in violation of electoral rules. He expressed frustration at the lack of response from the Election Commission and will be represented by lawyer Jada Shravan Kumar in court.
