Inspector Arrested for Accepting Bribe in Hyderabad
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested an inspector from the Shahinayathgunj police station in Hyderabad on Friday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe. The officer had reportedly asked for a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh from a complainant.
The inspector, identified as L. Balu Chowhan, demanded the money to remove the complainant’s name as a suspect in a missing person case and to ensure that a harassment case against him was dropped. After negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced to ₹50,000.
Following the arrest, the accused officer was presented before the principal special judge for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally. Officials have confirmed that further investigations into the matter are underway.
The ACB has urged the public to report any incidents of bribery through their toll-free helpline, 1064, to help curb corruption.
