ACB arrests four irrigation officials

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad arrested four officials from the Telangana Irrigation Department for taking a bribe. Among those caught were the Superintendent Engineer of North Tanks Division in Gandipet, and a Surveyor from the Mandal Revenue Office (MRO).

The arrested officials were identified as K Bhansi Lal, executive engineer; K Karthik, assistant engineer; H Nikesh Kumar, assistant engineer; and P Ganesh, Surveyor at the MRO office in Gandipet. They had demanded Rs 2.5 lakh from a complainant to process a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a building construction.

The ACB revealed that the officials had already accepted Rs 1.5 lakh as part of the bribe. Rs 65,000 was found on Bhansi Lal, while Nikhesh Kumar had the remaining Rs 35,000.

The four accused Irrigation Department officers were arrested and presented before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Nampally, Hyderabad.
