72-hour trial operation of TSTPS unit 2 concludes with success

NTPC is planning to set up the biggest Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka. The Telangana plant of NTPC is known for its modern and power efficient technology. The plant uses ultra-supercritical technology, which is both efficient and environmentally friendly.

The foundation stone for the Telangana Superthermal Power Station (TSTPS) was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016. The first phase of the project includes two units with a capacity of 800 MW each. Unit #1 was dedicated to the nation on October 3, 2023, by Narendra Modi, and Unit #2 has successfully completed its 72-hour trial operation on February 11.

The coal used for power generation in the plant is sourced from SCCL (Singareni Coal Collieries Limited), and the water requirement is met from the Yellampalli reservoir on the Godavari river. The plant is located on the lands of the existing NTPC Ramagundam plant, which is a significant power generator for southern states.

Apart from thermal power, the NTPC plant also includes a renewable portfolio with a 100 MW floating solar plant and a 10 MW ground solar plant. The floating solar plant is the largest in India.
