Cyberabad Traffic Police Cracks Down on Drunk Driving
The Cyberabad Traffic Police have intensified their efforts against drunk driving by conducting large-scale checks across the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits. Over the weekend, they caught 478 people driving under the influence of alcohol. In Hyderabad, a total of 1,320 drunk driving cases were registered last week.
Due to an increase in alcohol-related accidents, the police launched a strict enforcement drive at various locations. Special teams were deployed to check drivers for alcohol consumption as part of a focused campaign against drunk driving.
During the drive, police found 77 individuals with high blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels, ranging from 200 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml. All these offenders will be presented in court for further legal action.
The police also discovered that some of the offenders were underage. While the traffic police booked cases against them for drunk driving, it is the responsibility of the law and order police to investigate where they obtained the alcohol.
The Cyberabad police have warned that anyone caught drunk driving and causing fatal accidents will be arrested and charged under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. This law carries a maximum punishment of up to 10 years in jail along with a fine.
