In a major move toward inclusivity, 39 transgender individuals have been appointed as Traffic Assistants in Hyderabad. On Sunday, they participated in a demonstration program held at the Integrated Command Control Center (ICCC), led by Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand.
This event is seen as a significant milestone in efforts to integrate marginalized communities into mainstream professions. During the demonstration, the newly appointed Traffic Assistants showcased their skills and training, proving their readiness to contribute to traffic management in the city.

“The inclusion of the transgender community in the traffic management workforce is a progressive step that reflects Hyderabad’s commitment to equality and diversity,” said Commissioner Anand.
The Traffic Assistants will work alongside the Hyderabad Traffic Police to regulate vehicular movement, ensure road safety, and address traffic-related issues. Their participation is expected to enhance traffic management while promoting greater acceptance of the transgender community in society.
