The Cyberabad Traffic Police have intensified their campaign against drunk driving within the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits. Over the weekend, they caught 389 people driving under the influence of alcohol.

To tackle the issue, the police conducted a large-scale special drive by deploying teams to check for drunk drivers. Out of the 389 offenders, 315 were two-wheeler riders, 13 were three-wheeler drivers, 59 were four-wheeler drivers, and two were heavy vehicle drivers. Officials reported that 26 individuals had blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) between 200 mg/100 ml, while 11 were found with BAC as high as 550 mg/100 ml. The police confirmed that all offenders would be presented before the court.

During the drive, police also observed cases of underage drinking and drunk driving. While the traffic police booked cases for drunk driving, it is the responsibility of the law and order police to investigate where these individuals obtained alcohol.

The Cyberabad police have warned citizens about the serious consequences of drunk driving. If someone drives under the influence and causes an accident resulting in death, they will be charged under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. This offense carries a maximum punishment of up to 10 years in jail along with a fine.
