Kalleshwaram Project Commences Lifting Water from Lakshmibaraj to Ranganayakasagar
Hyderabad, July 8 (Namaste Telangana): The Kalleshwaram lift irrigation project is progressing as planned. On Saturday, another significant milestone was achieved as water was lifted from Lakshmibaraj to Ranganayakasagar. This includes the continuous supply of water from Annapurna and Ranganayakasagar reservoirs, which are located within the project area. The lifts are being monitored by the Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC).
The Kalleshwaram Jalala Taralimpu project is proceeding smoothly. After the project was initiated, water from Kalleshwaram was lifted using 35 pumps in a single phase. The irrigation officials from the Lakshmi Pump House have been consistently supplying water from Gayatri to Varada through tunnels. From there, the water is being lifted through canals to Nandimedaram and Gayatri Pump House to Varada. As part of the SRSP Rejuvenation Project, water from Rampur, Rajeshwarraopet, and Mukkal pump houses is being lifted to SRSP. The remaining water is being lifted from Varada canal to Rajarajeshwar reservoir and then to Annapurna and Ranganayakasagar through tunnels. Additionally, on Saturday evening, Lakshmibaraj received 24,000 cusecs of water as part of the Srisailam Flood Flow Canal (SFC). The authorities have issued a warning for heavy inflow. Currently, the capacity of Lakshmibaraj is 10.8 TMC.
