Hyderabad:
State Enforcement Directorate (Excise) and state police conducted a joint operation in Dhoolpet, a well-known area for illicit activities in Hyderabad. They successfully busted a ganja racket and arrested 15 people.
The excise officials seized 54 kilograms of ganja, worth Rs 10 lakh, from the suspects. According to Kamal Hasan Reddy, Director of Excise Enforcement, Dhoolpet has recently become a central point for ganja smuggling in the city.
The police aim to make Dhoolpet free from ganja smuggling by August 31 this year. To achieve this, special operations have been launched to prevent drug abuse. So far, a significant amount of ganja has been seized, and 15 people have been arrested for their involvement in smuggling activities.
Reddy mentioned that the seized ganja had connections to the Dhoolpet area. To combat this issue, 1000 policemen have been specially trained to prevent narcotics smuggling.
Special teams are also investigating the routes through which ganja is smuggled into the city from Andhra Pradesh. The police suspect that the smugglers are buying ganja from tribal areas in Visakhapatnam and transporting it to Hyderabad through various channels.
