Atmakur (Suryapet): On Thursday, police raided Sri Lakshmi Modern Rice Mill near Patharlapahad Cross Road after receiving information from locals. During the raid, they found large amounts of both broken rice (Nukalu) and regular rice.
The police suspected that the rice might be from the Public Distribution System (PDS). They contacted Suryapet Civil Supplies Deputy Tahsildar, Naga Lakshmi, who arrived with her team to check the situation.
Officials seized around 100 quintals of broken rice and one quintal of PDS rice. A sample was taken by a technical assistant for further investigation. The confiscated rice was moved to the Civil Supplies godown for storage.
A case was filed against the mill owner, Kasam Ramesh, for illegally storing PDS rice along with the broken rice. Police have started an investigation, led by SI Y Saidulu. Police personnel, including SB Constable Kiran, were also part of the raid.
