The 61st Formation Day of Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad was celebrated on Sunday. The event took place at the zoo, which is one of the most popular attractions in the city.
During the celebration, Captain Raghuraman, the managing trustee of Gland Pharmaceutical Limited, donated Rs 25 lakh to the zoo. This money will be used to build a reverse osmosis water unit with a capacity of 20,000 liters. Last year, Gland Pharma also donated a road train to the zoo.
Dr. Sunil S Hiremath, the Director and Curator of Nehru Zoological Park, expressed pride in the zoo’s achievements. He mentioned that the zoo is one of the top three in India and has made important progress in breeding endangered species like Asian Lions, Royal Bengal Tigers, White Tigers, and the One-Horned Rhinoceros. He also highlighted how the zoo uses modern technology, like online booking systems and social media, to improve visitor experiences.
Dr. Sunil thanked Gland Pharmaceuticals for their generous donation, which will help in the zoo’s development. He also congratulated the winners of various competitions held at the zoo, including drawing, painting, and sports events. The zoo staff who provided exceptional service were also honored with certificates.
The hard work and dedication of the zoo employees were greatly appreciated. Their efforts are crucial in maintaining the health of the animals in the zoo. Dr. Sunil presented certificates and mementos to the competition winners and outstanding employees.
Additionally, women employees of the zoo and visitors took part in the traditional Bathukamma dance, which was organized as part of the Dasara festival celebrations at the zoo’s Golden Jubilee pylon.
Several important zoo officials were present at the event, including M. Barnoba (Deputy Curator), Dr. M. A. Hakeem (Deputy Director, Vet), Vishnuvardhan (Assistant Curator-1), Amruthamma (Assistant Curator-2), and B. Laxman (Assistant Curator-3), along with other staff members.
