Bhaskar Reddy was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for criminal conspiracy, murder, and causing disappearance of evidence in the Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case. This caused protests in Kadapa district, where supporters of Bhaskar Reddy rallied in protest of his arrest. The rally included a procession from R&B Guest House to the Old Bus Stand, where supporters wore black badges and set an effigy on fire to show their disapproval of the CBI’s actions.
MLA R. Shivaprasad Reddy criticized the CBI for targeting Avinash Reddy’s family members instead of taking action against the guilty. Municipal Chairman Varaprasad also participated in the protest and condemned Bhaskar Reddy’s arrest. However, former MLA Vardarajula Reddy criticized the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) for organizing rallies and protests, as he believed that the CBI acted according to the law.
Bhaskar Reddy’s supporters also closed shops and business establishments to show solidarity with him. The CBI arrested Bhaskar Reddy from his residence in Pulivendula and took him to Hyderabad, where he will appear before a magistrate. The CBI has booked him for criminal conspiracy, murder, and causing disappearance of evidence.
