Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He met YSRCP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s camp office in Tadepalli on Thursday.
YS Jagan welcomed Ambati Rayudu with a party scarf. Rayudu expressed his happiness about joining the YSRCP and praised the Chief Minister for his inclusive politics and transparent administration in Andhra Pradesh.
Ambati Rayudu had represented Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad in domestic cricket. In June, he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket including the Indian Premier League (IPL). He met YS Jagan along with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise owner N Srinivasan and displayed the IPL trophy won by CSK.
Rayudu has been regularly meeting YS Jagan and has toured several villages in Guntur district to understand the issues faced by the people. It is speculated that the YSRCP may consider fielding Rayudu as a candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from either Guntur or Machilipatnam parliamentary constituencies.
