    YSR Telangana Party leader Y S Sharmila was granted conditional bail by a city court in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Sharmila was arrested and remanded to judicial custody for assaulting police personnel on duty during a protest. She has been asked to submit two sureties of Rs 30,000 each and take permission from the court before going abroad. The incident occurred when police went to Sharmila’s house following information that she was going to the office of Special Investigation Team probing Telangana State Public Service Commission question paper leak. As she sat on protest on the road in front of her house, she was arrested.

    Sharmila allegedly manhandled two sub-inspectors and slapped a woman constable. The videos of the incident where she was caught manhandling police were also circulated on social media widely. According to police, a driver of Sharmila’s car had not stopped the vehicle on their order and hit a constable injuring him. Police had booked her and her two drivers under IPC section 353A (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 427 (Mischief causing damage).

    The sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was sent to judicial custody for 14 days on Monday night and was subsequently shifted to Chanchalguda Jail. Her mother, Y S Vijayamma, also had an argument with police when she went to the police station to meet her daughter and was caught slapping a woman police constable.
