Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accused TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and his allies of betraying the people of Andhra Pradesh. He mentioned this at an election campaign rally in Narasapuram. Jagan highlighted his government’s success in helping students pursuing higher education through various schemes. He pointed out that 93% of students benefited from programs like Vidya and Vasathi Deevena, which reimbursed 100% of college fees.
Jagan also emphasized his government’s commitment to women’s empowerment and self-sufficiency, mentioning laws for 50% reservation for women in certain sectors. He highlighted the direct benefit transfers his administration facilitated, providing Rs. 2.70 lakh crore through 130 disbursements without corruption or discrimination.
Critiquing Naidu’s tenure as Chief Minister, Jagan questioned the significant welfare initiatives for the people of Andhra Pradesh during Naidu’s three terms. He contrasted this with his own focus on welfare and development in all sectors. Jagan then pointed out the unmet promises of the TDP’s 2014 manifesto, including farmer loan waivers and job guarantees.
Jagan criticized the TDP’s failure to fulfill its promises in 2014. He urged people to consider the achievements of the YSRCP government over the last five years and remember how Naidu’s government betrayed them in the past.
