YSRCP Chief and opposition leader of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has accused the TDP-led government of running the state like a mafia. He particularly criticized their policies on liquor and sand.

Speaking from his residence in Tadepalli, Jagan alleged that the TDP was manipulating these sectors for personal benefits. He also claimed that the party was suppressing anyone who questioned their actions.

Jagan specifically criticized the TDP for making promises before coming to power, only to leave the state in a difficult situation. He said that under the cover of reforms, the TDP had opened the door to various scams, particularly in the liquor industry. Jagan noted that while his government did not issue any new distillery licenses, TDP leaders were now buying low-quality liquor from distilleries they once condemned, but promoting it as high-quality alcohol.

Jagan also attacked the TDP’s sand policy. He accused the government of looting sand stockyards under the pretense of offering “free sand.” He said that during the YSRCP’s rule, the sand policy was transparent and generated Rs 750 crore annually for the government. However, under the TDP, he claimed that this revenue had disappeared, with tenders being awarded to close associates after a two-day bidding process.

Jagan went on to describe the TDP’s governance as a “loot, share, and eat” model, where the state’s resources were being exploited. He also accused the TDP of deceiving the public by making false promises during elections. One such false promise, he said, was the commitment of Rs 10,000 salaries for volunteers, which he called a betrayal. He also highlighted the lack of progress on the party’s “Super Six” policies over the past five months.
