In Yadadri, there has been a change in leadership at the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy shrine. The previous Executive Officer (EO), Geetha, resigned due to controversies surrounding her decisions. Some of these decisions included limiting the visitation of local devotees to Saturdays, not allowing autos on the mound, and prohibiting journalists from entering the premises.
Even though Geetha retired in 2020, the government decided to keep her in her position until now. However, with the new government in power, they have appointed K Ramakrishna Rao as the new EO. He assumed his duties promptly on Thursday. The Yadadri Temple has various development works that are still unfinished, such as the gold plating of the Vimana Gopuram.
In an interesting development, the government plans to establish a governing body for the Yadadri Temple, similar to the structure of the Tirupati Tirumala Temple. As part of this plan, an IAS-level officer was appointed as the EO. Geetha’s resignation is seen as a step towards this administrative change.
