Women are expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming Assembly elections in Siddipet, Gajwel, Dubbaka, and Husnabad constituencies. They outnumber men in terms of voters and their votes will determine the outcome of the elections.
In Siddipet district, there are a total of 948,669 voters. Out of these, 480,166 are women and 468,422 are men. Gajwel constituency, represented by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has the highest number of voters with 274,654 voters. Of these, 138,353 are women, 136,294 are men, and seven are others.
In Siddipet, which is the constituency of Minister T Harish Rao, there are 233,733 voters. Among them, 118,317 are women and 115,346 are men. In Dubbaka, there are 198,100 voters, including 101,081 women and 97,019 men. Husnabad has a total of 242,182 voters, with 122,415 women, 119,763 men, and four others.
Observers estimate that women voters are more aware of their rights and the importance of voting. As a result, political parties are putting in efforts to secure their votes. The ruling party BRS, BJP, and Congress have intensified their campaigning with a focus on women.
The BRS is highlighting government schemes for women such as ‘Kalyana Lakshmi’, ‘Nutrition Kit’, ‘KCR Kit’, ‘Arogya Mahila’, ‘Ammabadi Vehicles’, and V Hub single women pensions. The Congress is focusing on six guarantees including Rs.2,500 assistance, gas cylinders at Rs.500, and free travel in RTC buses. The saffron party is also preparing its manifesto with a focus on women’s issues.
