Women Police Officers Lead Special Patrol on Women's Day
As part of International Women’s Day celebrations, women police officers in Nirmal district took part in a special patrol. The Director General of Police (DGP) praised their efforts on Twitter.
The campaign was initiated by Janaki Sharmila, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nirmal district. Female officers from 20 different police stations participated in the event. Their presence on the streets sent a strong message that women are not only law enforcers but also symbols of safety and authority.
As part of the “Police Akka” programme, female officers responded to all Dial 100 emergency calls, addressing citizens’ concerns promptly. They expressed joy in carrying out their duties, such as patrolling and handling emergency calls. Their dedication showed that they could perform just as well as, if not better than, their male counterparts. The women constables participating in the event were visibly happy, with smiles on their faces.
This initiative highlighted the important role of women in maintaining law and order. It also inspired many young women to consider a career in the police force. SP Sharmila stated that the campaign demonstrated the capability, commitment, and courage of women police officers. Such programs help promote the role of female officers and create a safer society for all women.
The event also included friendly interactions with the public, visits to schools and colleges, and awareness campaigns on social media. Hashtags like #WomenInUniform and #WomensDayPatrol were used to spread the message. The contributions of Additional SP Bhainsa Avinash Kumar and Additional SP Nirmal Rajesh Meena were also appreciated.
