Women from the village of Dubbaka, part of the Samabhavana Sangha groups, are demanding the return of money they say was embezzled by VBK Katepalli Lingaswamy. They are also calling for legal action against Lingaswamy, as well as against the IKP and bank officials who they believe helped him. The women claim that Lingaswamy transferred money from bank loans into his and his family members’ accounts illegally. Additionally, they accuse him of collecting extra loan instalments from them.
On Monday, the women gathered in protest at the Mandal Parishad Office. They also blocked the Chityala–Bhuvanagiri road for half an hour to make their demands heard. Leaders from different political parties joined the protest. During the demonstration, the local Circle Inspector (CI) arrived, but the women confronted him angrily about the situation. The tension grew, and the police eventually had to take the CI to the station.
When questioned, Lingaswamy reportedly admitted to IKP officials that he had used Rs 16.8 lakhs over the last two years. He claimed that he had returned about Rs 10 lakhs to the accounts of some women.
Sub-Inspector (SI) P Mallayya spoke with the women and assured them that legal action would be taken if they filed formal complaints. His assurance convinced the women to end their roadblock on the highway.
Later, the women filed a petition with MPDO B Yakub Naik, requesting justice for the financial misconduct.
The women also went to the local SBI bank, where they challenged bank officials. They questioned how loans were given and funds were transferred without their knowledge or involvement.
