Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of the Indian cricket team and the former president of the BCCI, will now have Z category security protection. This means that he will have 8 to 10 police officers guarding him at all times. Previously, he had Y category security, which included three police officers from the special branch and an equal number of law enforcement officers to secure his home.

The decision to upgrade Ganguly’s security was made after a review was conducted in accordance with protocol as his VVIP security cover expired. The state secretariat’s representatives visited his Behala office on Tuesday to discuss the new security plan. The meeting was attended by concerned officers from the local police station and the Lalbazar Police Headquarters in Kolkata.

Overall, this means that Ganguly will have more police officers protecting him than before. This is because Z category security is a higher level of protection than Y category security. Nevertheless, the aim of this security upgrade is to ensure that Ganguly remains safe and secure at all times.
