The water war in Hyderabad is escalating into a political drama. BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao will address a public meeting in Nalgonda, accusing the Congress government of compromising the state’s interests. The government, on the other hand, plans to present a vigilance report on the defects in the Kaleshwaram Lift irrigation scheme. A delegation led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will visit the project site. However, BRS and BJP have declined the government’s invitation. KCR is expected to announce future actions like dharnas and agitations at the Nalgonda meeting.
Both sides are blaming each other for injustice, but they have ignored a crucial letter dated February 2, 2024. The letter, written by BRS MP Nama Nageshwar Rao, stated that the Telangana government opposed handing over rights over Krishna water and reservoir management to KRMB. However, the Joint Secretary of KRMB claimed that the state government had agreed. This contradiction has become a topic of discussion in political circles.
