Hyderabad: The Managing Director of the Hyderabad Water Board, Ashok Reddy, has appealed to consumers to clear their pending water bills through the One Time Settlement (OTS-2024) scheme. This scheme offers a discount on late fees and is available until October 31.

He urged customers who have not paid their bills for a long time to take advantage of this opportunity. The scheme is designed to help people settle their dues while benefiting from reduced late fees.

Consumers can pay their bills by visiting the cash counters at Water Board offices. They can also make payments online through apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm. Other payment options include NEFT, RTGS, and BPPS, which can be accessed through the official website, www.hyderabadwater.gov.in.

To make the payment process even easier, the Water Board has provided a QR code that consumers can scan to pay their dues. However, to benefit from the scheme, consumers must also sign a guarantee letter agreeing to pay their bills regularly for the next 24 months. If they fail to do so, the benefits from this scheme will be cancelled.

The scheme was introduced to recover large amounts of unpaid bills from individual consumers. Different levels of Water Board officers have been given the authority to waive interest on late payments. For example, managers can waive up to Rs 2,000, deputy general managers can waive amounts from Rs 2,001 to Rs 10,000, general managers can waive amounts from Rs 10,001 to Rs 1 lakh, and the chief general manager can waive amounts above Rs 1 lakh.

Consumers will receive SMS messages on the mobile number linked to their account, informing them of their outstanding dues, how much they need to pay, and the amount that will be waived.

The Water Board is also spreading awareness about the OTS-2024 scheme through various channels, including Twitter, Facebook, electronic media, FM radio, posters, and leaflets. If consumers have any questions or doubts about the scheme, they can call the Water Board’s customer care number 155313 for assistance.
