Jonty Rhodes, the fielding coach of Lucknow Super Giants, helped the groundstaff to drag the covers on after the rain stopped play. A video of Rhodes assisting the groundstaff went viral on social media.
Earlier, Ayush Badoni scored 59 not out after Lucknow Super Giants were struggling at 44/5 in the 10th over. This is the first IPL 2023 game that had to be called off midway due to rain. The match was soon called off with both teams sharing one point each. Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings are placed second and third on the points table respectively, with 11 points from 10 games. Lucknow Super Giants have a better net run rate compared to Chennai Super Kings.
