Hyderabad: A day before Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s visit to Warangal, the State government announced significant funding for various projects in the district.
The Chief Minister will visit Warangal on Tuesday as part of the ‘Praja Palana’ one-year celebration. To support the development of the tri-cities of Warangal, Hanumkonda, and Kazipet, the government has sanctioned an impressive sum of Rs 4,962.47 crore for the city’s development.
Among the major projects, Rs 4,170 crore has been allocated for a comprehensive Underground Drainage (UGD) scheme in the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC). Other key projects include Rs 205 crore for acquiring land for Mamunoor Airport, Rs 169.92 crore for the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, and Rs 33.60 crore for improving roads and schools in the textile park area.
Additionally, Rs 43.15 crore has been set aside to provide Indiramma Houses to farmers who donated land for the textile parks. Other notable allocations include Rs 85 crore for the Kaloji Kalakshetram, Rs 65 crore for road widening from Parkala to Erragattu, and Rs 8.3 crore for constructing the Nayeem Nagar Bridge.
Further investments include Rs 32.50 crore for building a new Warangal Municipal Corporation office, Rs 80 crore for an inner ring road, Rs 28 crore for a new Polytechnic college building near Bhadrakali Temple, and Rs 49.50 crore for road improvements within GWMC limits. An additional Rs 1.50 crore has been allocated for the construction of Warangal Urdu Bhavan.
The GWMC Commissioner shared that these projects were based on a preliminary estimate created by M/s Shubh Consultants and Technocrats LLP. The Chief Minister had earlier instructed, during a review meeting on June 29, that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) should be prepared for all necessary infrastructure work in the GWMC area.
The comprehensive master plan for infrastructure will cover underground drainage, stormwater drainage, water supply systems, and rejuvenation of water bodies. It will also include an aquifer management plan and underground ducts for services like power, telecom, and internet.
The consultant proposed that the Underground Drainage scheme be carried out in three phases, with a total cost of Rs 4,170 crore. Phase I will cost Rs 3,087 crore, Phase II will be Rs 597 crore, and Phase III is estimated to cost Rs 486 crore.
