Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader B Vinod Kumar has called on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to clarify the future of 1,023 existing Gurukul schools. This demand comes after the government announced plans to establish 119 Young India Integrated Schools. During a press conference, Kumar accused the CM of trying to erase the legacy of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).
Kumar pointed out that while the CM announced the construction of new schools with a capacity of 2,500 students per constituency, the official government order (GO) only mentions the construction of buildings. He highlighted that, over the last decade, KCR had set up more than 1,000 Gurukul schools, which provided education for students from SC, ST, minority, and BC communities.
The BRS leader also noted the success of students from these schools, saying many had secured seats in prestigious institutions like IIT and AIIMS. He added that KCR had even built a residential law college in Telangana. Kumar questioned whether the current CM was aware of these accomplishments and asked if the government was planning to close the Gurukul schools established by KCR.
Finally, Kumar emphasized that simply changing the name of a scheme wouldn’t erase KCR’s contributions. He urged the CM to clarify whether the names of the Gurukul schools would be changed or if entirely new schools were being constructed.
