Villagers of Pedda Tandrapadu Demand Bus Service Restoration

Residents of Pedda Tandrapadu village in Rajoli Mandal are facing transportation hardships and have taken action to address the issue. On Monday, they submitted a petition to RTC Traffic Inspector Srinivas Shetty at the Gadwal RTC Depot, requesting the reintroduction of a bus service from Shantinagar to their village.

The villagers explained that before the COVID-19 lockdown, a regular bus service operated on this route, benefiting Pedda Tandrapadu and nearby villages such as Konkal, Mundladinne, and Tummilla. However, after the lockdown, the service was discontinued, leaving them with no reliable public transportation. This has particularly affected students, women, and daily commuters who rely on buses to travel for education, work, and other essentials.

During their meeting with the Traffic Inspector, the villagers highlighted how critical the bus service is for their daily lives. They urged him to take immediate steps to restore the route and alleviate the difficulties faced by their community.

In response, RTC Traffic Inspector Srinivas Shetty acknowledged the problem but pointed out a shortage of buses at the Gadwal RTC Depot. He stated that the depot needs 29 additional buses to meet the demands of various routes in the district. While he assured the villagers that the issue has already been reported to the government, he made it clear that without more buses, he could not promise the resumption of the Shantinagar-Pedda Tandrapadu service. He also noted that many other villages in the district are struggling with similar transportation issues.

The villagers returned disheartened, as no immediate solution was offered. Frustrated by the lack of progress, they urged public representatives and district officials to take up the matter with the Telangana state government. They believe that government intervention is necessary to resolve the bus shortage and restore public transport services for underserved areas.

The petition was submitted by local residents, including Thimmoti, Ravi, Dev Varam, and Esepu, who hope their efforts will bring attention to the plight of their village. They stress the importance of addressing the issue to improve access to education, jobs, and other opportunities for their community.
