Hyderabad: The 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, known as Prakash Purab, is being celebrated in Hyderabad. As part of the celebrations, the second Nagar Keertan, a holy procession, was held on Wednesday. The procession started from Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha in Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj.

The Nagar Keertan passed through several areas, including Siddiamber Bazar, Jambagh, Putli Bowli, and Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda. It finished at Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha in the evening. Earlier, the first procession was conducted on Monday from Gurudwara Saheb in Secunderabad.

According to members of the GSGSS Prabhandak committee, the procession featured the Guru Granth Sahibji, the holy scripture of Sikhs, carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle. Many Sikh Gurudwaras participated, with Nishaan Sahebans (religious flag bearers) taking part. The event also included a stunning display of Gatka, a traditional Sikh martial art, performed by Sikh youths from Hyderabad and Punjab. Keerthani Jathas sang devotional songs (Shabad keertans), which attracted large crowds.
