Hyderabad: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday raised concerns about a recent rise in attacks on temples in Hyderabad. They urged the city police to take strong legal measures to maintain peace and security and curb what they called “fanatical forces.”
A group of VHP leaders met with the City Commissioner of Police to submit a formal complaint. VHP National Secretary, Ravinuthala Shashidhar, expressed that these incidents were deeply troubling for the Hindu community.
Several temples have been targeted in these attacks, including the Bhulakshmi Ammavari temple in Rakshapuram, the Mutyalamma temple in Secunderabad, and others like the Uppuguda temple, Mailardevapalli temple, and Amberpet Matha temple. The VHP claims these attacks were planned and deliberate, and they even suspect possible links to terrorist organizations.
The VHP criticized the portrayal of these incidents as the work of mentally unstable individuals. They argued that if such claims are true, serious legal action should still be taken to address the root cause of this “fanatical madness.”
Locals in various areas have reported the presence of outsiders in madarsas and mosques. The VHP is calling for a full investigation, the arrest of suspected individuals, and the installation of CCTV cameras in all mosques, madarsas, and other sensitive areas, with footage linked to local police stations. They also demanded action against illegal immigrants, such as Rohingya and Bangladeshi Muslims.
Additionally, the VHP expressed concern that these attacks could be part of a larger conspiracy. They speculated that extremist groups in Hyderabad might be trying to stir up communal tensions ahead of the Maharashtra state elections and the discussion of the Waqf Board Amendment Bill.
The VHP called for a thorough investigation into these matters to ensure the safety and harmony of the city.
