In a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023, all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer made a stunning catch of skipper Virat Kohli. When Kohli pulled off a short ball from Andre Russell in the 13th over, Iyer ran and dived to his left for taking a low stunning catch with both hands. After the game, Iyer said that taking Kohli’s catch was a game-changer for Kolkata. From there, Bangalore’s innings nosedived as they fell 21 runs short of Kolkata’s score of 200/5. Iyer, who made 31 off 26 balls with the bat, has mostly been used as an impact player this season. Kolkata’s next game will be against defending champions Gujarat Titans at their home ground Eden Gardens on the afternoon of April 29.
Iyer also added that he was extremely happy to be back on the field and that it has been almost five to six months since he has taken the field for fielding in a high-pressure situation. He held his nerves, remained composed, and grabbed a spectacular catch. He said that he was lucky that the catch was flat and that he didn’t have much time for thoughts. It stuck in his hand, and he is extremely happy that he took the catch because Kohli was well-set, and that catch at that very moment was a game-changing moment for Kolkata.
