State irrigation authorities are surveying the damaged Medigadda barrage for repairs. The inspection was initiated following a directive from State Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy to execute the NDSA interim report on the barrage. The team of officials assessed the local conditions to address the repair needs of the damaged piers.
Accompanied by representatives from L&T Company, the irrigation officials conducted the inspection. Repair works are expected to be completed before the monsoon season begins and the river Godavari receives water from catchment areas in Maharashtra.
Ensuring irrigation water supply to farmers in the Godavari delta during the upcoming Kharif season is a priority for the government. The Kaleshwaram lift scheme is crucial for facilitating irrigation across a large area of agricultural land.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will visit Medigadda before repairs begin to assess the situation firsthand and make informed decisions.
