The Irrigation Minister, Uttam Kumar Reddy, will inspect repairs and protection measures at Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla dams today. He will be accompanied by a team of engineers to review the progress of the ongoing works by government officials and construction companies.
The inspection follows recommendations from the National Dam Safety Authority expert committee’s interim report, which highlighted the need for repairs and protection measures at the dams. Two additional gates have been raised at the Medigadda Barrage as part of efforts to improve dam safety.
A key focus of the inspection is the lifting of gates at the Medigadda barrage. Gates 16 and 17 have already been successfully lifted, with plans to open the remaining four gates soon. Work is also underway to cut and remove the gate in the middle of the sagging piers to strengthen the dam’s structure.
