Cricket fans watching the India vs England test match at the Uppal stadium in Hyderabad were left frustrated due to the lack of proper amenities, particularly the dirty toilets. The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has consistently had poor facilities during cricket matches, and this time was no different. The toilets were dirty, with water overflowing and spreading on the floor. The wash basins were also flooded with water.
Many spectators expressed their displeasure on social media, complaining about issues such as difficulty reaching the venue, confiscation of water bottles and suntan lotions, and defective flush systems in the toilets. A video was even uploaded by a fan showing the dirty condition of one of the stadium toilets.
UK journalist Chris Stokes also highlighted the problems faced by England fans, including confiscation of water and suntan lotion at the gate. Fans shared their own experiences, with one mentioning that sun tan lotions, England flags, and water bottles were confiscated and everything was extremely dirty.
Indian fans also voiced their support for England fans and criticized the poor condition of the stadiums. They mentioned that many stadiums in the country lack civic sense and hygiene, and facilities take consumers for granted. One fan described the toilets as not flushing properly, with only one out of three basins working and the rest clogged with water and other things.
This incident raises questions about the arrangements made by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and the BCCI for international matches hosted by the country.
