The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has arrested a 37-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh for his involvement in sending job seekers illegally to Cambodia for cybercrime activities. The man, identified as Sadakat Khan, was arrested on November 2 at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The police caught him while he was returning from the Maldives, where he had been hiding.
Earlier, three other agents connected to this case were also arrested. These agents were K Sai Prasad from Jagityal, Mohd Abid Hussain Ansari from Pune, and Mohd Shadab Alam from Bihar. They were part of a group of agents who lured job seekers in India with fake promises of high-paying jobs abroad.
The agents collected large sums of money from these job seekers, claiming it was for processing fees, registration, and visa charges. Once the victims arrived in Cambodia, they were handed over to Chinese handlers. These victims were then forced into cybercriminal activities. Those who resisted were physically abused and confined. To make matters worse, the handlers also demanded further payments in bitcoin, threatening the victims with violence.
This case came to light in May when the family of a young man from Sircilla filed a complaint. They said he had been lured to Cambodia after paying Rs 1.4 lakh. Once there, his passport was taken, he was forced to work 16 to 17 hours a day in cybercrime, and he was held against his will.
According to the TGCSB, many other job seekers were similarly deceived and forced into online fraud for the same company. After the complaint, TGCSB, working with other officials, managed to bring some of the victims back to Telangana safely.
