The School of Computer and Information Sciences (SCIS) at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) held a special event to mark Global Encryption Day 2024. The event was organized in collaboration with the Hyderabad chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC) on Friday.
During the event, ISOC president K Mohan highlighted the growing importance of encryption. He explained that with the rapid increase in cybersecurity threats, encryption plays a crucial role in maintaining online security. Mohan emphasized that encryption should be considered a fundamental right for everyone.
Professor BJ Rao, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad, praised the event’s organizers. He mentioned that these sessions help people understand privacy concerns and raise awareness about digital security. He also encouraged experts in mathematics and security to focus on encryption, cryptography, and quantum communication to meet future security challenges in the next 20 to 30 years.
