Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the full Union Budget for the financial year 2024-25 today. In her speech, she announced several development initiatives for Andhra Pradesh.
The budget includes Rs 15,000 crores for the development of Andhra Pradesh’s capital city, Amaravati. She also assured that additional funds would be provided based on future needs. Sitharaman emphasized the government’s commitment to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and promised full support for the swift completion of the Polavaram irrigation project, which she described as essential for the state’s farmers and crucial for India’s food security.
For industrial development, Sitharaman announced special assistance for Andhra Pradesh. This includes dedicated funds for developing the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor and supporting nodes along the Visakhapatnam-Chennai corridor.
Additionally, there will be allocations for the development of water, electricity, road, and highway infrastructure in the industrial centres of Orvakallu and Kopparthi. However, the specific amounts allocated for these initiatives were not disclosed.
