The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad has arrested two officials in connection to the sheep scam. The CEO of Sabhawat Ramchander Naik and the OSD of Talasani Srinivas Yadav Kalyan Kumar were arrested on Friday, bringing the total number of arrests in the scam to ten.
The ACB officials have been questioning top officials in their office at Banjara Hills for the past week, leading to the arrests on Friday. The scheme involved distribution of sheep worth Rs 6,000 crore, with Rs 2.10 crore found to be involved in the scam.
Sources indicate that the officials are investigating the role of those who increased the cost of the sheep, as well as the role of middlemen in the scam. The ACB report suggests irregularities occurred during the tenure of the director, where officials helped contractors divert money meant for sheep growers into a benami account.
The OSD of former minister Srinivas Yadav was caught red-handed trying to take files after a change in government. Two accused individuals, Moinuddin and Ikramuddin, are currently absconding with a lookout notice issued by police.
