Former Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao is being fielded by the Congress party from Khammam. He is a senior politician in the state and has served as a Minister in both united Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He was born in Gandugulpally village in Kothagudem district and comes from an agricultural family. After graduating in Commerce, he entered politics in 1982, inspired by Telugu Desam founder N T Rama Rao. He initially lost the elections but continued to work for the party and eventually won multiple elections with a large majority. In 2009, he won as an MLA from Khammam but lost in 2014. Later, he joined TRS and served as a Minister before being defeated in the 2018 elections. Disappointed, he joined the Congress and is now contesting against Minister for Transport Puvvada Ajay Kumar, the BRS candidate, from Khammam. Throughout his political career, Tummala has held several portfolios, including Minor Irrigation, Major Irrigation, Excise and Prohibition, and R&B Minister.
