The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has decided to buy 1,050 new diesel buses this year. The buses will cost Rs 400 crore and will include 400 Express buses, 512 Palle Luvam buses, 92 Lahari sleeper cum seater buses, and 56 AC Rajdhani buses. Additionally, the RTC is also planning to introduce 540 electric vehicles in Hyderabad city and 500 buses in other parts of the state.
The goal is to have all the new buses available for passengers by March next year. Currently, there is a lot of bus congestion due to free travel for women under the Mahalakshmi scheme. To address this issue, the RTC will deploy 80 new buses with modern features. This includes 30 Express buses, 30 Rajdhani AC buses, and 20 Lahari Sleeper cum Seater (Non-AC) buses.
The Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and MD VC Sajjanar will launch these new buses at the Ambedkar Statue at NTR Marg in Hyderabad on Saturday.
