The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has announced a new policy regarding monthly bus passes for express services. Under the new policy, passengers will be charged on a kilometre basis and the toll plaza fee will be included in the bus pass fare. The existing slab system has been abolished, which means that passengers will only be charged for the distance they travel. Previously, passengers with monthly bus passes had to show their pass and take a toll plaza ticket every day, but now the toll fee will be included in the monthly bus pass fare.
According to VC Sajjanar, the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of TSRTC, this new policy has been implemented for the benefit of commuters. He has urged passengers to take advantage of this opportunity and support TSRTC. Currently, there are over 15,000 monthly bus passes in Telangana under the Monthly Season Ticket scheme. These passes are mostly availed by teachers, government employees and businessmen who travel regularly with a 33% discount.
Previously, the slab system was in place for express service monthly bus passes. This meant that if a passenger travelled 51 km, a monthly bus pass for 55 km would be issued through the slab system. However, under the new policy, bus passes will only be issued for the exact distance travelled, which is up to 51 km. This change will provide more transparency and fairness in the pricing system for passengers.
