Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has accepted the resignations of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) Chairman and three of its members. The resignations were submitted by TSPSC Chairman B Janardhan Reddy and members R Satyanarayana, Prof Bandi Linga Reddy, and Karam Ravinder Reddy. This comes after a controversy over leaked question papers from recruitment tests conducted by the Commission last year.
The acceptance of these resignations now allows the Congress government to appoint a new Chairman for the Commission. The government is currently identifying suitable candidates for the position, focusing on individuals with non-political backgrounds. In the past, the Commission had been filled with political leaders. The Governor’s acceptance of the resignations was prompt and there was no delay, despite misinformation and concerns.
The Governor forwarded the resignations to the state government, following Business Rules, for further examination and consideration. The Special Investigation Team’s ongoing investigation played a significant role in the decision-making process. After reviewing the resignations and obtaining the opinion of the Advocate General, the state government circulated the file to the Governor for acceptance on January 9.
On January 10, the Governor accepted all four resignations, ensuring that this decision does not prejudice the ongoing investigations or potential future criminal proceedings. The Raj Bhavan assures the people of the state, especially unemployed youth, that their interests have been safeguarded throughout this process. The acceptance of these resignations was completed diligently and in adherence to legal procedures.
The leak of question papers from the TSPSC recruitment tests was a major issue in 2023. The cancellation of some exams due to this leak contributed to the dissatisfaction of unemployed youth with the previous government.
