Hyderabad: Fake doctors are putting people's lives at risk by providing treatment without proper qualifications.

Recently, around 300 FIRs (police reports) have been filed against fake doctors across the State of Telangana. The Telangana Medical Council (TSMC) has made it clear that it is illegal for Rural Medical Practitioners (RMPs) and Private Medical Practitioners (PMPs) to practice or write prescriptions.

The Telangana State Medical Council has been actively working to stop these fake doctors. They have carried out special inspections at primary health centers, hospitals, and physiotherapy centers. During these inspections, the Council discovered that many unqualified doctors were even performing abortions. Additionally, some Ayurveda, Physiotherapy, and Unani doctors were found giving allopathy (modern medicine) treatments, which is dangerous because they are not trained for it. This not only puts patients’ lives at risk but also affects the jobs of qualified doctors.

On Sunday, the TSMC conducted a drive in several areas, including LB Nagar, Saroornagar, Musarambagh, Vanasthalipuram, Gurramguda, and Shahid Nagar. The inspection team, led by Medical Council Chairman Dr. K Mahesh Kumar and Vice-Chairman Dr. G Srinivas, made sure to arrest the fake doctors involved. During these raids, the team found that 20 people had been illegally given antibiotics, steroids, and narcotic injections by unqualified doctors. The team collected evidence against these fake practitioners.

The Medical Council announced that legal action will be taken against these 20 fake doctors under the NMC Act 34 and 54. Dr. Srinivas explained that so far, about 300 FIRs have been filed across Telangana, and more inspections will follow. He also stated that RMPs and PMPs are not real doctors and should not be practicing medicine since they lack the necessary education and qualifications.

Chairman Dr. Mahesh further warned that strict action will be taken against every fake doctor involved in illegal activities.
