The Telangana State United Teachers Federation (TS UTF) has raised concerns about the budget allocation for the education department. They believe that despite a slight increase from last year, the funds are still not enough.
TS UTF President Chava Ravi and General Secretary A. Venkat pointed out that the current allocation is much lower than the 15 percent promised in the Congress party’s manifesto. They expressed their disappointment over this issue on Wednesday.
This year, the government has allocated Rs 23,108 crore for education, which is 7.57 percent of the total Rs 3,04,965 crore budget. Last year, Rs 21,292 crore (7.32 percent) was allotted from a Rs 2,91,159 crore budget. Even though the allocation has increased by Rs 1,816 crore (0.25 percent), the Congress party has not met its commitment.
