A petition has been filed in the Telangana High Court regarding the free RTC bus travel scheme for women in Telangana. The petitioner, a private employee from Nagol, argues that providing free travel only to women is discriminatory. They claim that the state government does not have the authority to decide on a free scheme in RTC, which is established by central laws. The petitioner is requesting the court to halt the free RTC bus scheme for women.

According to the petitioner, free travel is being offered to women under the Mahalakshmi scheme, which has led to an increase in the number of passengers. This has resulted in difficulties for those who travel out of necessity. The petitioner believes that providing free travel burdens the RTC and it is unfair for the government to bear this cost using taxpayers’ money. Considering these factors, the petitioner urges the court to put an end to the free travel scheme.
