A training program on advanced carrot farming techniques was recently organized at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Palem Agricultural Research Center, located in Nagarkurnool district. The session focused on guiding young farmers and Desi dealers on effective cultivation practices during the Rabi season.
Dr. A. Shankar, a horticultural scientist, led the training and explained all stages of carrot farming, from seed sowing to harvesting. He covered essential topics such as seed treatment, weed control, pest and disease management, and proper fertilizer application methods.
During the program, Dr. Shankar highlighted that the soil and climate conditions in Nagarkurnool district are highly suitable for carrot cultivation. He pointed out that farmers in the region can achieve two crop cycles per year, with each cycle taking just 90 days.
The horticultural expert encouraged farmers to take up carrot farming, as it promises higher yields and increased income. He emphasized the potential benefits of adopting these advanced cultivation practices for a more profitable agricultural venture.
