Three children drowned in Mukundpur, Delhi’s North West district due to waterlogging caused by heavy rainfall. The kids went to take a bath in the water that had accumulated after the rain. The Delhi Police are investigating the incident and the bodies of the children have been sent for postmortem examination. All three children were aged between 12 and 15.
The incident occurred at around 3 p.m. when a field in Mukundpur got flooded after the recent rains. The water level was high and the kids decided to play and bathe in it. Unfortunately, they drowned while playing in the water. A police officer arrived at the scene and tried to rescue them but it was too late.
The continuous rise in the water level of the Yamuna river has caused a critical situation in Delhi. Several areas in South East, Central Delhi, East Delhi, and North East Delhi are flooded. Thousands of people living in these areas have been severely affected by the floods. Roadways have been submerged, leading to waterlogging and traffic difficulties.
Notably, congestion is observed in popular places like Firoz Shah Kotla Fort, Lodhi Garden, Raj Ghat, Jantar Mantar, Old Fort, Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and National Zoological Park. The major route on ITO is particularly affected by waterlogging, making it difficult for people to travel.
