In Hyderabad, the Anti-Corruption Bureau caught a Town Planning Officer red-handed at Nizampet Municipal Corporation on Monday. The officer, M Srinivasa Rao, had accepted a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh from a man. He allegedly took the money through a private person named Ramulu, who owns a tea point.
Srinivasa Rao, who is the town planning officer and in-charge assistant city planner at Nizampet municipality, demanded the money from Srinivasulu Naidu. He did so in exchange for not dismantling the tea point and signboard of a shop called ChennapatnamCheeralu’ that was erected on the complainant’s building premises.
After receiving a complaint, the ACB registered a case and caught Srinivasa Rao and Ramulu in the act of accepting the bribe. Both individuals were arrested and taken to court for further proceedings.
