The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana has started questioning Shiva Balakrishna, who is the Secretary of the state’s Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) and Chief General Manager (Land Management) of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited. He was taken into custody from Chanchalguda Jail following an ACB court order. Balakrishna has been in jail since his arrest in a disproportionate assets case, and he was brought to the ACB office in Banjara Hills for interrogation.
The Principal Special Judge for Special Police Establishment and Anti-Corruption Bureau cases had granted ACB custody of Balakrishna for eight days. The questioning will continue until February 7.
The ACB will be focusing on investigating transactions from 15 bank accounts belonging to Balakrishna, who previously served as the director (planning) of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). The agency will also be looking into the approvals that he granted as HMDA director, and some builders who received permission may be called in for questioning.
